Candle Care: The Art of Everyday Rituals

A candle doesn’t just burn; it breathes, melts, and transforms. The way you care for it defines not only its lifespan but also the atmosphere it creates. With a few simple gestures, you can make each light-up a quiet ritual of care and intention.

Let It Melt

The very first burn sets the tone for all that follow. Allow the melted wax to reach the edges of the vessel before extinguishing the flame.

This helps the candle remember; wax has what we call a memory. Every future burn will follow the path you establish during this first moment. When you let the surface melt evenly, you prevent tunnelling and create a smooth, consistent burn. Think of it as teaching your candle how to breathe; evenly, patiently, beautifully.

✂️ Trim the Wick

Before each use, take a second to trim the wick to about 0.5 cm. Always, even if it’s not the first burn.

This tiny act makes all the difference: it keeps the flame calm, prevents soot, and allows the fragrance to diffuse more cleanly. A shorter wick means a more stable flame; a quiet, balanced burn that reflects the simplicity at the heart of The Bequem.

🕰️ Give It Some Rest

Candles, like us, need rest to stay at their best. Avoid burning yours for more than two hours at a time.

Even after you extinguish the flame, the perfumed oils will continue to linger softly in the air, filling the room with a gentle scent. By giving your candle time to rest, you’ll help it last longer; proof that less is more, and that patience is its own form of beauty.

Candle or diffuser, each Bequem creation is designed for slow enjoyment; an invitation to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the simple beauty of scent. Because caring for what brings you calm is, in itself, an act of mindfulness.
